Despite the dampened systemic inflammatory response, and as reported previously (46, 66), we observed a high concentration of RANTES/CCL5, a chemokine that binds CC chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) to regulate trafficking and effector functions of memory and effector T cells and macrophages (67) that was more pronounced in aged COVID-19 patients. Here, CCR5 is linked to COVID-19.
