A recent preprint has reported that the microbiome is distinctly different in COVID-19 saliva samples with a disproportionate increase in select bacterial species (Veillonella, Prevotella, and Capnocytophaga) that are recognized by the peptidoglycan recognition protein including PGRP4 (Iebba et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene PGLYRP1 and COVID-19.
