WT and BAFF-RFP+/- mice showed similar signs of illness and decrease in body weights during the first 3 to 4 days post infection (p.i.)(Fig 1A), and during this period, BAFF-RFP+/- infected mice showed significantly enlarged spleens and increased splenic bacterial burdens comparable to WT mice (Fig 1B).
