Our findings of a null effect of the PEARS antenatal lifestyle intervention are consistent with a secondary analysis of the multicentre LIMIT study which revealed that a complex behavioural intervention delivered antenatally in women with overweight and obesity at baseline had no effect on markers of inflammation including CRP, tissue necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interferon gamma [29]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
