Western bot analysis revealed a significant increase of the pro-apoptotic Bax (n = 4 animals/group; Student’s t-test, AD-NE vs. AD-NN mice, p = 0.004) and active Caspase-3 (n = 4 animals/group; Student’s t-test, AD-NE vs. AD-NN mice, p = 0.024) proteins in hippocampi of AD-NE mice compared to age-matched not-exposed animals (Figure 10—figure supplement 1). This evidence concerns the gene CASP3 and Alzheimer disease.
