In addition to their immunosuppressive activity, ageing-related increased CD47 levels may thus be involved in vascular disease, vasoconstriction, and hypertension, and predispose COVID-19 patients to related pathologies such as pulmonary hypertension, lung fibrosis, myocardial injury, stroke, and acute kidney injury [4,50,51,52,53,54,55,56,57]. This evidence concerns the gene CD47 and acute kidney injury.
