The SARS-CoV-2 infection causes lymphopenia in peripheral circulation, which is counterbalanced by the thymus to enhance lymphocyte recirculation between peripheral blood and SARS-specific IgG immunoglobulins release, with no elevation in the levels of interleukin (IL) 8 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) [16,17]. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and lymphopenia.
