In experiments on head and neck cancer, it was found that exosomes produced by tumor-associated fibroblasts are able to induce cisplatin resistance in nearby tumor cells by transferring miR-196a and through targeting cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1B (CDKN1B) and inhibitor of growth protein 5 (ING5) (Qin et al., 2019). The gene discussed is ING5; the disease is neoplasm.
