The chemokine CXCL10 also known as interferon-γ inducible protein-10 (IP-10) is constitutively expressed in astrocytes, microglia, and neurons (reviewed by Jiang et al., 2017) and markedly increased in reactive astrocytes in CNS disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD) (Xia et al., 2000). This evidence concerns the gene CXCL10 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
