78 patients underwent a study for two years at the Union Hospital. Inflammatory mediators, minerals, hormones, and vitamins were analyzed. IL-6, CRP, TNF-α, serum phosphate, potassium, and blood urea nitrogen were elevated. While serum calcium, BMD, and vitamin D reduced with the progression of the disease. Hence, the severity of the disease exhibits a strong association with osteoporosis. As the disease got more severe, the condition of osteoporosis became worse as well. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and osteoporosis.
