VWF is considered as a marker of endothelial dysfunction, which was synthesized in endothelial cells and released into the blood circulation via a constitutive pathway (released immediately after completion of molecular synthesis) or a stimulatory regulatory pathway that mediates initial platelet adhesion at sites of vascular injury (Ruggeri, 1999; Lenting et al., 2010). This evidence concerns the gene VWF and endothelial dysfunction.
