In a p16 Arf–/– PDGFB murine glioma model an endogenous ionotropic signaling has been identified within tumor cells, demonstrating that glioma cells not only respond to GABA, but they can also release it in the TME, limiting cell proliferation of both murine and patient-derived GBM cells (Blanchart et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene CDKN2A and central nervous system cancer.
