Two new rabbit monoclonal antibodies have recently been developed and proposed to be highly sensitive and specific for the diagnosis of SS [142]: E9X9V (cat no 72364, Cell Signaling Technology, Danvers, MA USA) designed to recognize the SS18-SSX fusion proteins without cross reacting with wild-type SS18 or SSX proteins and E5A2C, and E5A2C (cat no 23855, Cell Signaling Technology, Danvers MA USA) designed to recognize the C-terminal end of the SSX1, SSX2 and SSX4 proteins [142]. The gene discussed is SS18; the disease is synovial sarcoma.
