In EGFR mutant non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), it has been shown that the population of persister cells remaining viable after the combined treatment with the EGFR and MEK inhibitors osimertinib and trametinib, respectively, is in fact YAP1-activated and permits tumor outgrowth upon treatment stop. The gene discussed is YAP1; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
