Taken together, increased levels of pathological AT1R-B2R protein complexes are a sufficient cause of major preeclampsia symptoms with concomitant rise in antiangiogenic and vasoactive peptides, hypertension, renal dysfunction and end-organ damage in vivo, in transgenic mice with smooth muscle-specific AT1R-B2R expression (Figure 2).
