Importantly, besides murine studies describing an increased inflammation in the imiquimod-induced psoriasis-like skin in leptin deficient (ob/ob) mice [35,36], LEPR together with leptin was found to have significantly higher expression levels in the skin of severe psoriatic patients, even with normal BMI, compared to patients with mild–moderate psoriasis and controls in histological studies [28].
