According to the reference study [7] and considering the effect of the paired sample proportion on the statistical power of the study, from a mechanistic point of view, the results obtained in the present investigation show that the improvement of glycemic control in subjects with DM may contribute to preventing the negative impact of AGE-albumin in macrophage cholesterol efflux by reducing ABCA-1 decay rate and increasing ABCA-1 protein levels. This evidence concerns the gene ABCA1 and diabetes mellitus.
