The effects of BC treatment on gene expression in skeletal muscle were milder than effects of MET treatment and included both potentially beneficial changes (e.g., upregulation of Insr, Irs1 and, to a lesser extent, Lpl, Cd36, Cpt1b, Mcad and Ucp3) and harmful changes (e.g., downregulation of Ppargc1a and Slc2a4) relative to expression levels in the HF control group. This evidence concerns the gene IRS1 and hydrops fetalis.
