PNPLA2 and hydrops fetalis: Interestingly, even if there were no signs of WAT browning or Ucp1 induction (actually Ucp1 expression was repressed), gene expression results suggested increased capacities for lipolysis and subsequent oxidation of the released fatty acids in iWAT of MET and, especially BC+MET mice, as compared to the untreated HF and, especially, the BC mice (see results of Lipe, Pnpla2, Mfn2, Pparagc1a, Cpt1a and Cd36 in Figure 5a).
