The FTO gene (FTO alpha-ketoglutarate dependent dioxygenase) [32,33] has been extensively described as linked to obesity, both in adults and in children, as indicated by SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) research [34,35,36], as well as epigenome-wide association studies [37,38] (according to EWAS Atlas [39]). Here, FTO is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
