MGMT and colorectal cancer: There was an interaction between red and processed meat intake and MGMT Ile143Val polymorphism on colorectal cancer risk (P interaction = 0.04): For individuals who carried the variant genotype with higher red and processed meat intake (above median) risk was increased: OR 1.43 (0.82–2.48), compared with those with the common genotype and lower red and processed meat intake (below median). Amongst the common genotype group with higher red and processed meat intake suggested an inverse association: OR 0.75 (0.55–1.01).
