INS and Insulin resistance: The increased consumption of dAGEs contributes to the total AGEs’ body burden, in a similar way to those endogenously formed, and leads to suppression of host defenses and induction of intracellular reactive oxygen species, which can shift basal oxidative stress and lead to inflammation, insulin resistance, obesity, β-cell dysfunction, impaired insulin secretion and insulin resistance, and diabetes, as well as their comorbidities, and mediate the aging process (Figure 1).
