EGFR and breast carcinoma: According to the assessment that EGFR is often overexpressed in epithelial tumors, such as in squamous cancer of the head and neck region [29,30,31,32], as well as in pancreatic, renal, colon, brain, ovarian and breast cancers, EGFR was the first receptor to be proposed as an interesting therapeutic target for cancer therapy, and, therefore, several promising nanoplatforms, which are based on the use of inhibitors of these factors (i.e., tyrosine kinase inhibitors), ranging from small molecules to even monoclonal antibodies, have recently been developed [15].
