A common element of these pathways is nuclear factor kappa B (NFkB), a family of pleiotropic transcription factors, NFkB1 (p50/p105), NFkB2 (p52/p100), RelA (p65), c-Rel and Rel B, which regulate other myogenic transcription factors such as MyoD, MURF-1, and MAXbx involved in the development of sarcopenia [14,15,16]. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and sarcopenia.
