These results are, to some extent, consistent with those presented in 2020 by Vukelic et al., who showed that immunomodulatory medications used for mild or severe LN did not affect IL-23 levels [28]; the authors suggested that drugs commonly used in patients with SLE may not be effective in shutting down the IL-23/IL-17 axis [28]. This evidence concerns the gene IL17A and systemic lupus erythematosus.
