Additionally, we found that in Cfz + Met groups, Akt phosphorylation was decreased in contrast to what we previously reported in the young adult mice [6], and this is in agreement with the knowledge that Akt phosphorylation and regulation play a different role in cardiac homeostasis in the aged myocardium and are associated with cardiac hypertrophy phenomena [35]. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and cardiac hypertrophy.
