Genetic heterogeneity has limited the development of targeted therapies for ovarian cancer, which have otherwise been successful in other cancers such as trastuzumab, Herceptin® (for breast cancers with HER2-amplifications), imatinib mesylate, Gleevec® (for BCR-ABL fusion in chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) or KIT mutant gastrointestinal stromal tumor), amongst others. Here, BCR is linked to chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
