Profound increases in ALT (>10× upper limit of normal [ULN]) were noted in most acute infections (median [IQR]: 1670 [183–2155] U/L), while less pronounced ALT flares (2–4× ULN) were observed in most patients with HBV reactivation and in those with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis (median [IQR]: 143 [40–528] U/L and 74 [52–137] U/L) (Table 1).
