Two groups of investigators [33,34] showed that supplementation of phenylbutyrate reduced clinical illness in infections with Shigellosis in a rabbit model, with increased AMPs, cathelicidin, and defensins, and reduced levels of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) gut colonization, invasion, and intestinal inflammation in mice. Here, ADSL is linked to shigellosis.
