NQO1 and acute myeloid leukemia: Japan Koseisho Leukemia Study Group analyzed gene polymorphisms of NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase (NQO1), glutathione S-transferase (GST)-M1 and -T1, and CYP3A4 in 58 patients with subsequent myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myeloid leukemia in adult cancer survivors treated by chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy (sMDS), as well as in 411 patients with de novo acute myeloid leukemia (AML); indeed, those enzymes are important for the metabolism of cytostatics.
