S. flavescens inhibits cervical-cancer-cell proliferation and metastasis and induces apoptosis by inhibiting the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway; reducing the expression of Bcl-2, cyclin A and MMP2; blocking the G2/M phase cell cycle; and stimulating Bax and E-calmodulin.
