Abnormal accumulation of aggregated α-synuclein (α-Syn) is seen in a variety of neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson’s disease (PD), multiple system atrophy (MSA), dementia with Lewy body (DLB), Parkinson’s disease dementia (PDD), and even subsets of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) showing Lewy-body-like pathology. The gene discussed is SNCG; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
