Importantly, some polyphenols, such as silibinin [71] or epigallocatechin gallate [72], were found to attenuate cellular degradation of these proteins, which was associated with cell cycle arrest, suggesting that a similar mechanism may, at least in part, account for the marked upregulation of p21Cip1 and p27Kip1 in CUR+CA-treated prostate cancer cells (Figure 4c,d).
