On the other hand, there is some evidence that the infection itself triggers autoimmunity, such as those seen in relation to Guillain-Barré Syndrome [18,19,20], to autoantibodies against Annexin A2 [23], and as observed in some studies, the positive association between the infection by SARS-CoV-2 and thrombocytopenic purpura [29], autoimmune haemolytic anaemia [30] and Miller Fisher syndrome (MFS) (a mild variant of Guillain-Barré syndrome) [27]. This evidence concerns the gene ANXA2 and Guillain-Barre syndrome.
