In a population of Japanese patients with established stable CAD documented by coronary artery stenosis exceeding 75% on coronary angiography, a virtual-histology intravascular ultrasound of the culprit lesions demonstrated greater lesion length and higher plaque volume and percentage of necrotic core volume in patients with high plasma apoB levels when compared to patients with low plasma apoB levels. The gene discussed is APOB; the disease is coronary stenosis.
