In accordance with previous publications (17–20), maternal FABP4 serum concentration correlated with BMI (Spearman’s r = 0.311, P = 0.039) (Figure 1A), and women with GDM had significantly higher levels of FABP4 as compared with normoglycemic pregnant women (24.7 ± 15.9 ng/mL vs. 15.2 ± 7.6 ng/mL, P = 0.0146). This evidence concerns the gene FABP4 and gestational diabetes.
