Corigliano et al. (2011) showed that plant cytosolic HSP90s, Nicotiana benthamiana Hsp90.3 (NbHsp90.3) and Arabidopsis thaliana Hsp81.2 (AtHsp81.2), stimulate the proliferation of B cells and that TLR4 is involved in this mitogenic interaction. In fact, TLR4 plays a very important role in immunity against T. gondii, but also in its pathogenicity; therefore, its moderate stimulation is sought in a vaccine against toxoplasmosis (Zare-Bidaki et al., 2014). The gene discussed is TLR4; the disease is toxoplasmosis.
