Based on WHO 2016 classification, diffuse gliomas can be further classified as: diffuse or anaplastic astrocytoma, isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-wild type; diffuse or anaplastic astrocytoma, IDH-mutant; glioblastoma (GBM), IDH-wild type; glioblastoma, IDH-mutant; and oligodendroglioma or anaplastic oligodendroglioma, IDH-mutant and 1p19q co-deletion (4, 5). Here, IDH3A is linked to anaplastic astrocytoma.
