In addition to N-terminal prohormone of brain-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), several new biomarkers, such as fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), fibrotic biomarkers such as galectin-3 (Gal-3) and soluble suppression of tumorigenicity 2 (sST2), are helpful in the diagnosis, risk stratification and prognostication of heart failure [3–5]. This evidence concerns the gene FGF23 and heart failure.
