As modulation of the RAAS constitutes a first-line pharmacological treatment in patients with cardiovascular disease and hypertension [15] and the putative SARS-CoV-2 receptor ACE2 is part of the RAAS [7], it is important to exclude a potential interference of clinically used modulators of the RAAS with COVID-19 severity in patients with cardiovascular comorbidities. Here, ACE2 is linked to COVID-19.
