IL6 and rheumatoid arthritis: Samarpita et al. (2020) performed in vitro experiment using human rheumatoid fibroblast-like synoviocyte (FLS) line MH7A or primary human FLS and in an adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) rat model. TAK-242 was found to be effective in downregulating IL-6, IL-8, MMP-1, and VEGF level in LPS stimulated cells. It also hindered the translocation of NF-κB in nucleus. In rat model, TAK-242 at 5mg.kg alleviated the symptoms of RA and normalized the serum level of IL-6 and VEGF (Ono et al., 2020; Samarpita et al., 2020).
