Following the fixation and permeabilization of the released cells, samples were immunostained against established prostate (Cytokeratin 8/18, vimentin, and prostate-specific antigen Kallikrein 3) or pancreatic (Cytokeratin 7/8/18, EpCAM, and vimentin) cancer markers along with WBC markers (Anti-CD45) and a nuclear stain (4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI)) to positively identify enriched CTCs (“Methods”). The gene discussed is KLK3; the disease is cancer.
