Consistent with a tumor suppressor role of PHLPP, loss of PHLPP expression was frequently identified in different cancer types, including leukemia, colorectal, pancreatic, and nonsmall cell lung cancer [7, 10–12], and lower PHLPP expression was found to be associated with increased malignancies and poor survival [10, 13, 14]. This evidence concerns the gene PHLPP1 and leukemia.
