We did not observe significant effects of sex on any of the analytes measured in serum or urine, with the exception of IL-33 in urine (Fisher’s Exact test, p = 0.0254) and IFN-γ in serum (Pearson Chi-Square Tests of Independence, p = 0.0123), and in neither of these cases was infection associated with significantly altered levels. This evidence concerns the gene IFNG and infection.
