FGF21 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: Patients with both T2DM and NAFLD had higher levels of serum FGF21 (159.6 ± 35.7 vs. 124.1 ± 42.9 pg/ml, P < 0.001) and liver fat content (19.3 ± 9.4 vs. 4.5 ± 0.6%, P < 0.001) than the controls.
