As shown in Figure 1, liraglutide treatment significantly decreased serum FGF21 levels (159.6 ± 35.7 vs. 124.2 ± 27.8 pg/ml, P = 0.006) (Figure 1(a) and Table 3) and liver fat content in the T2DM patients (19.3 ± 9.4 vs. 10.6 ± 6.3%, P < 0.001) (Figure 1(b) and Table 3). Here, FGF21 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
