Human adenovirus infection can result in overactivation of the innate immune system, and it induces innate immune cells (macrophage, NK cell, and neutrophil) to release a large number of cytokines, like IL-1, IL-2, IL-6, IL-12, IFN-α, IFN-β, and IFN-γ, which in turn can lead to inflammatory dysregulation and cytokine storm (25). This evidence concerns the gene IFNG and adenoviridae infectious disease.
