We also found higher production of IL-6 in BALB/c mice in ATM IP mice, which play an important role in the leishmaniasis pathogenesis, triggering the down modulation of the microbicide molecules, and the polarization of macrophages to an M2 phenotype, which are more permissive to Leishmania proliferation (Hatzigeorgiou et al., 1993; Hu et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and leishmaniasis.
