Recent research showed that NLRP3 was overexpressed in tumor tissues from head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), and its activity levels also correlated with tumor size, lymph node metastatic status, and IL-1β expression, which played a pro-tumorigenic role and enhanced the aggressiveness of HNSCC (40, 41). This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
