It has been reported that serum cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12, IL-17A, IL-18, interferon gamma (IFN-γ), and TNF-α are elevated in sepsis [13–16], but some of these cytokines are also elevated in FMF patients. Here, CXCL8 is linked to familial Mediterranean fever.
