EMT is a central cellular process in cancer metastasis, characterized by the loss of cell–cell junctions and a decrease in the expression of the epithelial marker E-cadherin, in parallel with the upregulation of the mesenchymal marker N-cadherin and cytoskeleton rearrangements intended for enhanced invasive capacity (Tennakoon et al., 2015). This evidence concerns the gene CDH1 and cancer.
