This is particularly interesting given the findings of Roussos et al. [132] that people with schizophrenia who do not appear to be in a state of neuroinflammation (the authors reported no change in several cytokine transcripts) show decreased expression of NF-κB pathway genes in the brain, particularly those molecules involved in the translocation of RelA. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is schizophrenia.
